Danji is a restaurant I like to go to,but as they are closed on Sundays which is really the only night I can go to, it's usually only during vacations that I can check 'em out, and last night paid 'em a visit!

Missed the taste of this place, especially for their Chicken Nanba! 

We took a trip onto Ford Island where the old buildings and relics from WWII still stand, and it was like taking a time machine into the past! The cloudy sky only added to the surreal experience of the trip!

Someone on facebook said the theater is now used for meetings and such. Good to know it's still in use!

 Years ago me and a friend were getting bentos from a place in Palolo  and while eating it outside, another customer who was getting something remarked to us, "This place is good, but you know who makes the BEST bentos? Kokoro Tei in Moiliili!

WELL with an endorsement like THAT, we promptly checked it out the following weekend. While I'm not sure I would call it the BEST bentos, it certainly was GOOD, and WOW, what a selection! In fact, it was their huge selection that became our primary motivation to go there! Since then we would still go from time to time for something different, and just the other day I had the craving for their karaage and dropped by!

They used to have a seating area inside, but since COVID they are a strictly "take out" only place, with a table set up right at the door for transaction. Anyway, I picked up Karaage for lunch, and a Wafu Hamburger bento for dinner! Mmm, good stuff!

 A friend at work had given me a whole bunch of vintage Hawaii postcards to share, and WOW, did they blow me away- The copyright date on the backs of the cards dates it as 1951, and these postcards depict a Hawaii of yesteryear!

As well, this vintage shot of the Royal Hawaiian back in the day...

...looks totally different, with the Royal Hawaiian now dwarfed by huge hotels all around it!

My co-worker had given me these postcards to post on facebook, and I told him that once they were uploaded, they were probably going to be taken and re-posted for many years to come!  So as a joke, I watermarked them with his name "Grant's Collectibles" so that any time one of the postcards resurfaced, we would know it was his!

 With the Waikiki Ramen Food Court still closed after COVID hit it, I was walking around looking for somewhere I could get a bowl, and saw this board saying there was a "Food Court" with an "Ezogiku Ramen" down the alley...

Down THIS alley? Looked like a dead end! 

But sure enough, there was a small bunch of counters at the end, and I was able to get my Wonton Ramen after all!

Talk about a "Hole In the Wall" eatery!
